This free document is an exercise using the Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys' song ‘Danser sans comprendre’ to understand what the infinitive form of the verb is and how to make sentences that say "you are doing X" or "he is doing X" (called the present progressive). Part of a series by La Relève Louisiane pairing popular songs with grammar explanations, the 3-page document first reviews the infinitives and the present progressive with a few fill-in-the-blank questions, then puts what you've learned in context using the song.

You can check your answers to the fill-in-the-blank questions using the answer key at the bottom of the page, and by the end of the exercise you will have learned a new song in Louisiana French. Even if you only sing it in the shower, music is a great tool for practicing pronunciation.

Don't mind the typo in the Youtube video's title (san, where it should be sans). Sometimes the music distribution software U.S. musicians use can get a little confused with non-English titles!
